Various crap - Ralph, January 19th, 2005
Thing are rolling along well for Lockerspace, I promise some updates for this weekend. I have been
modding away on my Senior Project. The action verb alone should give you a big hint, but in about 2 weeks I will
unveil my preliminary results. I hope to impress - its a website exclusive, like OMG!
In other news, Nathan and I have picked up Rise of Nations again, this time with the expansion pack. The ability to chose your type of government adds
another layer of strategy to the game, even though not as deep as I hoped. Basically you get different benefits for choosing to be either democratic or a despot, but I wished they would also have included drawbacks for picking either.
This way you basically can't make a bad choice, either one will only help you. It is nonetheless still the best real time strategy game out there, and it has held that title for well over a year now. That might change soon though, because Ensemble studios is not far from
releasing their 900 pound gorilla: Age of Empires 3. And boy it looks sweet.
The European Space Agency’s Huygens probe landed on Saturn’s moon Titan this week. The pictures are astonishing. The surface is orange, and it seems like they have rivers of liquid methane or ethane. As amazing as these space endeavors are, the Europeans really need to up the quality of these space cams. They send a many million dollar probe to Titan, just to get something in the range of 1 megapixle photos. But then again, the probe was launched in about 1994 if i remember right.
The banners are a nuisance, but a must. If they are not present our website could potentially be shut down.
Blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue blue.... - Nate, January 17th, 2005
I'm changing the locker color. Dammit, I'm sick of drawing blue backgrounds.
Internet died = very yes - Nate, January 5th, 2005
But I just fixed it now, so no more worries. Sorry for the lack of comics... I was just too busy over the break um... having fun. Then,
my internet simply died, and for the past half week I've been frantically trying to fix it.
But it's back up now, and I just got a sweet ass
printer/scanner/fax machine, so expect something very soon.
Hope everyone had an excellent Christmas and New Year. Oh Five Baby!!!
Two thousand freaking five - Ralph, January 3rd, 2005!
It took me until December 31st, 12 at night to realize that the clock has moved on to tick down the seconds of a new year - 2005.
Then I sat down, and i know it sounds lame, but I got nostalgic. It took me all that time to just pause and think about the events of the last year.
I guess it just shows you that time really flies by, and you don't slow down until your conscience punches you in the face and shouts "HEY PAL TAKE A MINUTE AND THINK."
2004 was an amazing year that has left many long lasting impressions on me and Nathan (I'm speaking for him here). I have really grown to love this place, and I hate the fact that I will have to leave it in about 6 month. Throughout your high school career you
inevitably meet people that you care about and that you will miss, but I suppose I am not stating anything that’s new. The idea that
I won't be able to follow up on people's lives at all leaves, sort of an empty feeling. I hope I will meet people just as friendly
and funny as I have here, and I am definitely going to miss the warm weather.

PS: Haha, beat Nathan to the first post in 2005, SUCKA.
Guess who's birthday it is? - Nate, December 25nd
Merry Christmas, yeh filthy animal. BLAM BLAM BLAM!!! And a Happy New Year. BLAM!!!
Exams - Nate, December 22nd
Well, I'm pretty much done with high school. All I gots to do is not fail any classes, and I'm set. All that's left is to apply to college.
Graaah. G. Graaahg.
I've been spending a lot of time trying to get better at Tekken. I haven't played for a long time, but the local arcade here just got Tekken 5, and I became very determined to do well.
I plan on reserving a copy of the game for the PS2 for when it comes out in February. Need. To. Kick. Ass. With. Hwoarang.
Decomposing Stuff - Ralph, December 19th
Wow i almost havent posted as long as John Kerry. That guy seriously needs to update his website - you can still find links on his website for "campaign informaton" and such, his campaign must've REALLY drained his funds. Im a Dem. but i have to give some props to Bush, at least he keeps his site updated. What is even worse is that I still get popups ala "WIN 500$ by guessing who will win the 2004 election", or "Click here to warp John Kerry's or George Bush's face". Thats as retarded as still having your pumpkin out from Halloween. An old rotten decomposing maggot infested pumkin.
So whats going on over christmas break? Well i just got my acrylic sheets from a local supplier, im going to start building a see through computer case now.
I got a little website suggestion today: Check out things too fast for the human eye in slow motion link
Grandiose names for the sake of good coffee. - Nate, December 9th
Damn. It's venti, not viente. Stupid stupid stupid.
Not much to say but new comic is up. I'm currently working on a picture to submit for the holiday fan art contest over at narutofan.com. If you guys didn't know I was a Naruto fan, I'm a Naruto fan.
RASENGAN!
.... God help me, I'm such a dork. ^_^
Dan likes to wear pink. - Nate, December 4th
Hope you guys like the wallpaper. I'm rather proud of it, though I made a lot of stupid mistakes that caused it to take twice as long to make as it should have.
By the way, a friend of mine got me a Gmail account. It's kinda cool, I guess, if e-mail is your thing. The interface is very nice, and easier on the eyes than Hotmail. Plus, the setup of the display for forwarded
messages is very nice indeed. And the gig of space is nice... I can now send crazy big files over the net. Wheeee.
Oh, and hey, I got my blackbelt, finally. So now I guess if I get into a fight, my appendages will be considered to be weapons when the kind folks at the justice department decide who to blame the shit on.
It's kinda cool. And Taekwondo rules.
So now my new e-mail address is at dawgpak87@gmail.com kay? Righto.
Off the chain wallpaper! - Ralph, December 4th
Nathan totally hooked us up with some of that christmas spirit
sheezy. Download our rad wallpaper and your desktop is definitely
going to be off the chain.
 Your
friends are so going to envy you over this wallpaper!
1600*1200 1024*768 800*600
Nathan, fire the guys in the marketing department, now please.
Starbucks will rule the world. - Nate, December 1st
And so begins a story arch that will hopefully make the comic a little more interesting. We'll see how this goes...
Not much else to say, but there is a wallpaper coming up. It's done, but I wanted Ralph to upload it. The reason? I can update the comic and post entries in the blog... but that's just about it.
My html knowledge is almost like, nil.
And DAMN it's freezing in my house. What's the thermostat on? Jeez.
Yes I'm alive... although everyone who even looks at this comic probably already know that. - Nate, November 28th
ARRGHH. TWO weeks without update. I suck.
I'm really sorry for the stupid delay, although according to the webcounter, my incompetance has made this comic lose the interest of a LOT of people.
I'll make it up with a nice picture or wall paper, for those who are still with us here.
It's time that Ralph and I rededicate ourselves to this project.
By the way, I am being blown away by all the excellent games being distributed one after another for every platform during this holiday season. It makes me as giddy as a school boy looking at porn,
although this euphoric feeling is being constantly punctured by the fact that I HAVE NO MONEY.... yet? Hopefully.
Anyway, hope you all had a pleasant Thanksgiving. Gobble gobble.
You little goober. - Nate, November 16th
Yes, I am a lazy bastard. Yes I just took an unbelievably lazy shortcut in my storytelling. Yes, I don't really care.
I blame it on the death of the great Yasser Arafat. His death has left me broken hearted, and for the second day now, I sit in fasting,
praying and mourning for his great soul.
I mean, I really wanted to know which Swiss bank account he used to stash away all that money. It's a fu*king gold mine dude.
"Chatroom Wisedoms." - Ralph, October 18th
A Lesson About "LoL".
"He has pretty good form." - Nate, October 17th
You guys, sorry for the slight delay. Had a lot of stuff to do, although I'm on break. Mostly fun things, that have nothing to do with work, but things outside away from my
computer nonetheless. ^_^ YES I DO HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE.
So yeah, his name is Mark. Simple. Common. But little does anyone know that this is just a guise to hide his true identity! For, in reality, he's... lines and color drawn on Photoshop.
Whooo yeah, I'm really out of it right now. If you all will excuse me.
"You like what I've done with the place?" - Ralph, October 15th
Ok I have gotten around to activate the links, but so far the content is no more than one mind blowing word with no more than two syllables - we're making progress. The next thing in the making is a new banner. The first one I made was just a slapdash effort, in effort to hastily publish this site. I guess this is what game developers feel like when they have to meet a deadline. I am particularly impressed with the way Nathan has kept up with posting comics, kudos to him.
Oh, and also check out the comment link below. It's java script based, and if you have the newest Internet Explorer it might ask you if you want to "unblock this content". Just chose "yes". I promise, it's will just take over your computer.... ahh let you comment.
"Foreign." - Nate, October 14th
The introduction of Timothy Chan.
You know, when I was decided on the name of this character, I was thinking about "The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan" cartoon show. I remember watching old reruns of it when I was a kid.
It was about fictional Chinese detective, Charlie Chan, but this time he was solving the crimes with his ten children and a dog... Yes, very Hanna Barberaish. They even had the "Chan Clan
Van" that everyone rode in. Although Charlie Chan was fairly stereotyped, his children were like normal, American, WHITE kids. Straight down to the bell bottoms. In
a way, it was easier for Asian Americans to relate to those characters. It's also interesting to note that just about
every character was voiced by a Japanese actor, with the exception of Chan himself, who was voiced by a Chinese man by the name of Keye Luke.
Oh, and since Fall Break is here, I'll be updating a LOT more often than usual. Check back every day, alright?
"Drinking is stuupid." - Nate, October 13th
Seriously. Don't follow the rambling thinkings of my character. He's probably pretty out of mind right now. Drinking sux. Instead, do something useful, like draw pictures of green
zombies.
Cuz, you know, the world can always use more zombies.
I'm really having fun with the backgrounds. I'm glad that my comic now looks like I actually put more work into it, even though I really don't. ^_^ It's fun to do, really. I absolutely
adore Photoshop.
If the comics are the meat, then the rest of the site are side dishes. Delicious side dishes, consisting of mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, itallian bread, green beans....
Ah, I'm a little hungry. But Ralph promises that they'll be up and running by the middle of next week or so.
The debate tonight I did not watch at all, mainly because I have no interest in listening to things that I've been hearing for a year or so. But, if someone screwed up big time,
tell me! I love to hear about those.
"Well... dinger." - Nate, October 11th
I like drawing suprised expressions. They're so fun to do!
We are currently working on site content. Since Fall Break begins this Thursday for us Georgians, Ralph and I will have plenty of time to get something done.
"Beavers can speak in German" - Nate, October 10th
Not much to say, but a new comic. Tried a little different style on the background there. I got sick of two tone colors.
Oh, by the way, the girls are sisters. One of 'em is adopted. Can you tell which one?
"The not-so-civil war" - Nate, October 8th
This is the first edition of the sketchy comics that take absolutely no time at all to draw!
This will be the type of strip that you will see when I don't have too much time to do a full fledged inked and colored comic. As I said previously, they won't pertain much to the main story,
but it will be my medium for general randomness.
By the way, you guys have my promise that the political comics that I do will be totally unbiased. Since I'm a conservative, and Ralph is a liberal, there won't be too much as far as "BUSH SUCKS!!!" or "KERRY SUCKS!!!".
However, I will say this to all those who can vote... ONLY VOTE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. Voting in November is more than just for the President. There are all kinds of other shit that you
have to make decisions about, so please inform yourself about what they are. I'd rather have half the population vote and know what they just voted for, than have the entire country vote, but for random
and uneducated choices. Don't be an MTV voter. Register to vote but read about what you'll be asked about in the coming election. Every choice we make is important, not just the ones that decide the
head honcho.
That's probably the biggest political rant you'll get from me for quite some time. Yay.
Oh, that's me in the comic, by the way. Another great thing about these sketch comics, is that I'll be plugging in cameos of me and my friends. Nothing is funnier than real life, baby.
"What's a bottle doing there??" - Nate, October 6th
Well, you now know the names of both girls. The one with the orange hair is Clair, and the blonde is Linda.
I'm not too good with continuinity, but I'll try the best I can. A comic of this nature usually has to have an underlying storyline to be good, so if it really sucks, I'm sorry.
It's funny, I don't really have a plan about how the comic will progress. I'll just wing it, I guess. Eventually I'll have to have a storyline mapped out. It just makes things easier to keep together.
Oh, and I wanna apologize for the lack of content on the site, and my week long breaks between comics. Ralph has been totally sucked in by The Sims 2, so he hasn't had too much time to work on any html. I'll snap him out of it soon. ^_^
And in order to have a more steady flow of comics coming, I'll do a few sketchy pencil comics. It won't pertain to the main strip, but it will be frequently updated, and funny... hopefully.
"Beastiality is a bad thing." - Nate, September 28th
Two new characters introduced, more on them as the comic goes on.
Sorry that I'm already so spotty on the updates even though we just opened. I just had a lot of stuff to do for school, and let's just say that I'm having a pretty hard time keeping up.
Oh, by the way, if you have any comments about the comic, just drop me an email. I'll try to answer as many as I can!
Small update - Ralph, September 24th
These are two amazing clip and I felt like I had to share them:
Crazy Surfer
"You gotta come help me right now"
I will be gone over the weekend, but I am sure Nathan will entertain you with some content.
"Queer eye"" - Nate, September 20th
Hi all, Nate here.
Well, wouldn't you know, I updated in only about two days time! I used up a lot of homework time to do this, but I felt that kickstarting the website on a good foot would be a good reason to.
...right?
Whoo, got a lot of homework to do this week though... Senior Project is gonna bring in one hefty work load this week, so expect only one comic until Saturday. Oh, and judging from the time it took for me to finish this strip, I'd say I can normally update at least twice between Monday and Friday, and once or twice in the weekends.
Good deal, no? ^_^
As far as future website content goes, you can expect a character page, as soon as enough of the cast gets introduced... which may or may not take a little while. Hell, you guys still don't know the name of Mr. Blue Hoodie here. Plus, me and Ralph'll put together an About page, which will contain our profiles, and some behind the scenes info
about the comic.
Once again, thanks for stopping by, and spread the word! Ralph and I want this comic to be a success!!
Hey... yeah, we're back... can I just borrow a grand or two to get back on my feet? - Nate, September 19th
Welp, looks like we're back after all this time. I hope you all will enjoy Locker Space, as this comic is the result of months and months of "I'll do it tommorrow".
Seriously, it's about freaking time we started back up this whole comic schtick...
As Ralph already mentioned, this site is pretty much not ready for web release just yet. However, we just decided "to hell with it" and put it up so you guys are actually looking at something, other than a crappy picture of a stick figure staring up in the sky. However, since I'm sure you guys love me, it's no big.
So what can you expect from Locker Space? How is it different from Flipp Side? First of all, it's a whole lot less crappier. Full color, whenever I can manage it. And it deals with the strange enigmatic entity known as high school. Well.... it's not an entity... and it's not enigmatic either... okay, shutting up now.
Anyway, I can tell you for a fact that this comic will stick around. Seriously. If I fail to come through with this promise, you guys can sue me for lying or something.
Oh, by the way, update schedule hasn't been decided just yet, so hang on a little bit. For now I will update when I have the time.
Unbelievable - Ralph, September 18th
Wow, it has been two years now. In fall 2002 me and Nathan Pak started "The Flippside". It was our first attempt at a webcomic.
We put together our skills, and out of the mix of his artistic talent and my HTML knowledge came our first pathetic creation. Over time we actually refined the comic pretty well and had a sizable fanbase.
It went all well for a while, but i don't exaclty remember when we decided to discontinue the comic; I believe it was because school work was quite overwhelming. To make a long story shot: WE'RE BACK, and I hope, and feel like that
it's better than ever before. Right now this site appear to be a little "rustic", if you haven't noticed already, none of the links work and the header looks absolutely hidious. On top of that the "previous" and "next" comic links are blant and ugly.
I apologize for the early birth, but me and Nathan both felt like we should just go ahead and upload the site, and evolve it over time. Ahead of us lies a big task - the comic is no longer the "Flippside"; we have changed the name to "Locker Space" to more accuratly reflect the comics losly bound themes.
Yet the URL still says http://flipp.keenspace.com, and will probably stay so until we bought our own domain. Now you might ask: "Why haven't you done so already!1!!1!?". That is because Keenspace is convenient for right now, and its managing system is easy and quick.
Nonetheless I would like to give everyone a big welcome to the site. We hope that you enjoy the comic and that you will help us spread the word! Bear with us in the first few weeks, it will be a bumpy ride. I am sure that Nathan is going to fill everyone in on a lot of things with his soon-to-come post.
Until then, Au revoir.
